Welcome to the Provincial Archives of Jyväskylä
The district of the Provincial Archives of Jyväskylä covers the province of Central Finland.
The Provincial Archives of Jyväskylä is open to all. The use of records in the research room is free of charge.
Almost half of our customers are genealogists and half are students and persons engaged in scientific or other research. Our customers also include authorities and private citizens. The Provincial Archives receives around 4,000 customers visits a year.
The research room has 19 customer seats and the microfilm reading room has 20. The records in the archives of our cooperation partner, the National Land Survey of Finland, are also available in the research room.
The reference library holds literature on local history, Central Finland and genealogy. The latest journals on historical research and genealogy can be read in the coffee bar for customers.
